TIKAL CANOPY TOUR                        

 

  Our Canopy Tour goes out every morning at 9 a.m. (or at any time you may prefer). Our driver will pick you up at your hotel in Tikal and will take you to the Tikal Canopy Tour, where you will be able to view jungle life through a bird's eye perspective and enjoy soaring from tree to tree. This tour through the jungle's treetops offers you an exciting experience high above the rainforest's floor.

  You may inquire about our expert guides to assist and explain what goes on in this habitat all around you (at an additional cost) and leave our ordinary ground level to become more connected to nature and to your own true origins. Once you descend back down on the forest floor you may return to your hotel or proceed to your next destination.

  We offer you top quality and safe equipment, and our regular local guides, all included in your tour for only US$ 32.50 per person plus a fuel surcharge while the crisis in Europe prevails (creating a steep increase in the costs of fuel for us in Guatemala). Professional naturalist guides & / or additional transportation (from Flores or El Remate) are also available at an additional cost. Please let us know if we may be of any assistance.

  The ride covers a distance of 1.3 kilometers or a little less than a mile:

  The first cable is called the Adrenalin Rush, a zip line connecting 2 platforms by a 200 meter-long cable that is fast, fun, exciting and very safe... It's 40 meters above the ground and you will "fly" right over the road at one point and then go deep above the jungle floor from one tree to the next... The Tikal Canopy Tour consists of a total of 10 platforms connecting 9 zip lines of 75, 100, 150 and 200 meter-long cables, at an altitude of 25 to 30 meters above the forest floor!

  Notes on safety: the number of accidents in the Tikal Canopy Tour after 20 years of operation is ZERO. The equipment we use is Petzl (French made) harnesses, pulleys, clips and other safe & professional brands. The Canopy Tour was built by the Original Canopy Tour, who built the Rincon de la Vieja Canopy Tour in Costa Rica, and is operated by its Guatemalan owners. Both have a perfectly clean record. You should have your own insurance, however, but there won’t be any accidents. The guides are well trained and take every safety precaution very seriously! The only thing to keep in mind is that if you are too heavy and don’t fit comfortably into the harnesses you will stay grounded, this the guides will decide upon on the spot. There are other things you may do at the Canopy Tour. Although there is no age limit for the Tikal Canopy Tour there is a weight limit of 300 lbs. Children under 4 will go on this adventure with an adult or with one of our most experienced guides. Thank you for your cooperation.

  You may also get an earlier start and go on our bird watching tour with a professional guide at the Canopy Tour's premises.   The zipline tour takes between one hour and one and a half hours to complete. You should allow for a 2 hour slot to complete this tour, as this is how long it will take including transportation from the hotels in Tikal and back.

 

These prices are valid throughout 2023. There is a temporary US$ 5 per person fuel charges that applies until the costs of fuel go back down to normal.
